DermAlert® is a product of Western Research Company. Western Research Company, Inc. is a privately held corporation founded in 1984. It is currently headquartered in Tucson, Arizona. The company develops, manufactures and markets proprietary imaging software for aiding in the detection of new or changing skin moles. These patented, new imaging products allow individuals at home or physicians to participate in body surface monitoring using popular digital cameras. This technology was developed with the assistance from the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. The use of body imaging for the purpose of identifying new or changed moles is recognized as a vital step in the early detection of melanoma, the fastest growing and potentially most fatal cancer in the United States today.
